With everyone so keen on impressing strangers, gaining followers, and generating clout, we often forget how good it feels to just take a step back and enjoy the moment. We tend to focus on the lives of others and things that don’t concern us, rather than living our best life while we still can. Here are 5 tips for creating a meaningful life while you’re still young.
1. Stop comparing yourself to everybody else.
Nobody knows what they’re doing. We pretend we all have our shit together, but in reality, we don’t know a damn thing. And that’s perfectly ok. Don’t let the lives of others affect the way you live yours. Every experience is unique and personal. Once you stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and begin to focus on yourself, your outlook will change (for the better) as will your life. Take some time and space for yourself and do some soul-searching. Start by manifesting your plans and goals into the universe, no matter how unrealistic they may seem.
2. Be mindful of the present moment.
Start living for now, not later. We spent way too much time over-thinking and articulating every moment of our lives, rather than just experiencing it. We think too much into the future or fall back into a distant memory. As a result, our thoughts become wildly cluttered. Being more present can change your entire day instantaneously. Once you become aware of what is happening in the present moment, you begin to do things with simplicity. When you become mindful of your feelings, you start observing them with detachment and balance. Not only will it keep your mind balanced and focused at all times, but intuitiveness is developed.
3. Don’t be afraid of failing.
Once you begin to do things that terrify you, the less afraid you will be of failing. Do not let the fear of failure or rejection hold you back from ever trying. Each and every day is another chance for opportunity. We often forget how rewarding it feels when we overcome any fears or adversities. Never be ashamed by your mistakes or failures because it essentially leads us to growth. All it takes is one negative thought to prevents you from even trying. Learn to overpower the fearful thoughts with ambitious ones.
4. Explore the unknown.
Life isn’t a competition. It’s a journey of one’s’ successes and failures. It’s constantly failing and suffering through the worst kinds of pain. Try to embrace change and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. You can learn so much about yourself when you explore the unknown or do things that make you uncomfortable. For example, once I stopped worrying about my online image and focused on life beyond social media, things began to take a positive turn. Always look for opportunities where you can grow internally. Real empowerment comes from our achievements, not our image.
5. Be true to yourself in the process.
Finally, just be real. We are our own enemy but we are also the light. All you can do is live in the moment, be mindful, be gracious, and patient while also being true to yourself in the process. We are all powerful beyond measure and if you have a strong mind and personality, I truly believe you can do anything. Promote more of what you want, rather than what you are afraid of. If you feel trapped in your career or personal life, always remember that you have the ability to cut through those chains, turn your life around and direct yourself towards the light. This is your reality, and you have the power to create your own experience.
