The Beauty Of Uncertainty

Why are so afraid of the future and attached to the past?

“I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.”

Alan Watts

If you asked me years ago what I wanted to be when I grew up, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. And I still don’t have a clue.

Though, that does not scare me. Sure, sometimes I wonder and dream about what could be. But the uncertainty excites me.

Not knowing a single thing motivates me to go above and beyond, to challenge myself, to pursue all the goals that keep me up at night.

Because not knowing what will happen, means anything and everything can happen. It says we can do anything we want. You might think its hopeful thinking, but it’s merely a fact.

You can do anything, or you can do nothing.

We make choices every second of the day, to act or wait. Don’t ever blame others for your life not panning out the way you hoped. Because the unspoken truth is this: you create your own reality. Bad things happen for unknown reasons, but we don’t have to let every outcome determine our life. You can’t change the past or fix the future, but you can control what happens now.

“The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand.”

Irene C. Kassorla

There’s no telling where life will take me, who I will meet, and where I’ll be in a couple of years. Because everything changes and nothing is certain. And planning for an ever-changing world is foolish.

We should plan for the unexpected. We should welcome change, take on spontaneous opportunities, focus on short-term goals, live in the now and let go of yesterday. Because like I said, anything can happen, and nothing is definite.

Live for the fall and the rise. For the bumpy, never-ending journey we all love and hate.

Do what you know feels right. Listen to yourself, and don’t let people manipulate your mind. At the end of the day, it’s not about winning, being right, or becoming the richest. These are just titles that eventually die.

The goal will always and forever be about compassion, loving, growing, learning, and of course, being alive. For now, all we can do is try.
