Goal setting and self-reflection

Writing down my goals always provides me with long-term vision and short-term motivation.

Make a list, beginning with the phrase, “I will…”, and underneath write down your goals and things you wish to accomplish.

Create three separate categories for your daily goals, weekly and monthly goals. Make sure to put your list of goals somewhere like on the fridge or beside your bed, so that you can keep track. Cross them out as you go and keep adding on!

Positive self-talk

The first thing I do as soon as I open my eyes is to fuel my mind with positive thoughts. No matter how I feel in the morning, I try to tell myself things that’ll lift my spirit. For example, I’ll repeat words in my head like “today is going to be a good day,” or “today I’m going to accomplish ______.”

I also start the day with gratitude. Take a moment to acknowledge the things you’re grateful for.

Try to envision what your life will be like in 10 years. Take out a piece of paper or start a new note on your phone and write from the perspective of your future self. Answer the following questions:

  • What does your life look like? What do you do for a living? Are you married with kids? If so, how many? Where do you live and, what does your house look like?

The purpose of this is to really manifest your dreams. The best time to do this is right before you go to sleep. Simply close your eyes and imagine yourself at the finish line. By doing so right before bedtime, you’re planting little seeds into your subconscious.

Listening to other people’s stories

I love reading or hearing personal and motivational stories about the struggle, the fall, and the rise. To me, the best stories are the ones that evoke emotion in you or inspire positive change. A great source of inspiration comes from listening to motivational podcasts. If you’re open-minded and enjoy thought-provoking conversations–this may be for you!

Here is one of my all-time favorite podcasts. It transformed my thinking entirely and changed my life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tSTk1083VY

Set the mood

The setting matters! I can never get any work done if my desk or home is upside down. When things are a mess, it makes it more challenging to think clearly. As someone who works from home, it’s essential that I maintain a clean and organized workspace. It helps boost creativity and inspiration.

Seek new ways to grow

This year I’ve made it my priority to take on new challenges and step outside my norm. If you’re a creative or entrepreneur, it’s essential to seek new ways to improve your craft.

For instance, I’ll start working on a new creative project or modify an existing piece of work. Whether I’m enhancing my website, editing an old blog post, creating a new photo portfolio, or even taking some content marketing/business classes to expand my professional skills–there is always space for growth.

Above all, our potential is endless, because there is absolutely no limit to what a person can do. The mind is the only barrier standing between you and your goals. Once you learn to embrace the chaos and unshackle the mind, you will achieve greatness.

Unshackle your mind. Ditch the victim’s mentality forever. Own all aspects of your life completely. Build an unbreakable foundation.
